We Sing Pop! Song Contest 2023 Results

Selected winners of the We Sing Pop! Song contest 2023 will have an opportunity to perform at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on the dates to be announced. 

First Place Winners

Dhanya Mayuran, the 11-year-old musical talent, originally from Canada and now based in Chennai, India, shines in the music world. Fueled by a lifelong passion for singing, she excels at the prestigious KM Music School founded by the legendary AR Rahman, showcasing exceptional skills on the piano and violin. What sets her apart is the adept fusion of Western and Carnatic music, infusing her performances with a unique blend of traditions. Recently securing 1st place in Chennai’s solo singing competition at the Furtados School of Music’s “Band-It Festival,” Dhanya stood out among 136 participants. A double-promoted grade 6 student with outstanding academics, she channels her creativity into baking and actively contributes to charity events. Dhanya’s musical journey spans across the USA, Canada, and India, reflecting a global impact. Dhanya’s global resonance as a musical inspiration aligns with her dream of studying at Berklee College of Music – USA, nurturing aspirations to become a renowned musician.
Royina Patel is a seventh grader from Ridgewood, New Jersey. Her passion is music and she loves to sing and perform. She has performed in multiple plays since elementary school and has done musical nights in the nearby neighborhood. She has been singing and performing since she was 4 years old, in various local concerts and most recent in NYC restaurants and theaters. She also does professional voice-overs in her spare time, her most recent being Voice of Dream Tango in the   Sesame Street Christmas special The Nutcracker with Elmo and Tango streamed on HboMax. She plays the guitar and piano too. She has her own YouTube channel where she posts music covers of her favorite singer.
Sureela Jangala is a sixteen-year-old Indian American singer from Boston, Massachusetts. She currently attends Woburn Memorial High School as a 11th grade student. From a young age, Sureela has demonstrated a strong passion for the performing arts. At the age of five, she began practicing Carnatic music, a form of classical Indian singing, at Abhyaas School of Music. After training in the Carnatic medium for nearly six years, Sureela began to practice operatic and classical music with her current teacher, Victoria Avetisyan, at Serini Music School. Sureela has performed at numerous community and charity concerts and has won first place in the 2023 American Protégé International Vocal Competition. She hopes compete again and further her journey as an artist through this experience.
Sarai Juarez Osorio,18, is a Mexican-American singer born in CA, United States. Sarai has performed since age 5 and spent most of her childhood recording and producing music in service of her local church. She earned a degree in music ministry at Canzion Institute in 2021 graduating as the youngest student of her class. Her voice training began at the age of 15 with Amanda McFadden. She has directed several shows and concerts in high school at Sonoma Academy and became the founder of the first-ever Spanish show in the school’s history. She has received countless recognition and numerous awards, some include becoming a recent Young Arts award winner and one of American Protege’s International Vocal Competition, First prize winner. She became a Questbridge Scholar after matching with Oberlin College and Conservatory with a full scholarship where she is currently pursuing both a BM/BA.

Winners Concert Information

    1. Selected Winners will perform one song on stage as selected by the judges from the applicant’s audition repertoire.
    2. Performance time limit for all ages and repertoire categories is 4 (four) minutes.
    3. Performance repertoire changes will not be accepted.
    4. Judges will give no feedback on the applicants’ performances.
    5. Participants must bring their own piano accompanist.
    6. American Protégé does not provide piano accompanist, but can recommend one after enrollment into the program.
    7. Taking of photos and video recording is strictly prohibited at Carnegie Hall  and backstage at all the times. Unauthorized photographs, video, or other recordings may be deleted at Carnegie Hall management’s discretion.
    8. All participants are responsible for their own expenses (travel, housing accommodations, etc.).
    9. Tickets will be available at the Carnegie Hall website two months prior to the event.
    10. Detailed Concert information will be provided to the participants via email.

For the Concert at Weill Recital Hall (250 seats):

Sound system or microphones are not available at the Weill Recital Hall.

Total Recital and Photo Fee for Solo Participants will be determined in February of 2025.

Piano Accompanist’s service is not included into the Performer’s Concert Fee. Registered piano accompanist is Mrs. Kyoung Im Kim https://kyoung.im/. Please contact her directly for any arrangements. Limited number of performers can be assisted.
