We Sing Pop! Song Contest 2016 Results

First, Second and Third Place Winners of the We Sing Pop! Song contest 2016 performed at the Isaac Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall on June 15, 2017 at 8:00 PM, as a part of Showcase at Stern Concert, dedicated to the 10-year Anniversary of American Protege Competitions.
Honorable Mention Winners receiveed their respective Diplomas via email.
First Place Winner

Nootpravee Khongrod (Mew) lives in Thailand and is currently a senior student in Year 10 at Shrewsbury International School, Bangkok. Receiving professional vocal training from the age of 9, she has many amazing performance and musical experiences including live performances in a choir, band and in national TV Programs. One of her pride is winning the battle round in The Voice Kids Thailand Season 1 in 2013. At the same time, Mew also admires the beauty of classical music and achieves high distinction marks on both her vocal and piano ABRSM exams. She finally combined her skills together and started performing in several Fusion concerts in the year 2015. Her passion for Pop and R&B music developed into a talent which was recognized by a team RS Public Company. Now she has signed an artist contract with this entertainment company, aiming to launch her own single record in the upcoming years. |

Second Place Winners

Adam Mombru is a 17 year old from London. He is a King’s Scholar and Music Scholar at Eton College, and although primarily an instrumentalist (currently as clarinetist at the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and formerly a student at the Royal College of Music Junior Department), he has sung as an untrained vocalist in school and church choirs until 2015, when he started taking lessons for the first time. He has a passion for jazz, theatrical, and pop music, and as a baritone, has adapted a semi-falsetto to suit the demands of these genres. He also takes advantage of his grounding as a classical pianist to accompany himself as a singer.

Varsha Krishnamoorthy, 15 years old, from Singapore, has been surrounded by music from a young age. She began training in Carnatic music, at the age of 5. When she was 9, Varsha’s dad’s job took their family from America to China, where she developed her artistry by learning to play western guitar. After moving to Singapore in 2015, she decided to plunge deeper into music, so she started her formal training in pop and rock music at Aureus Academy. She has since cleared Grade 3 in Trinity Rock and Pop Vocal, and has taken the Grade 4 exam. Varsha is a lead role in her school’s musical production, and is also a part of her school’s choir. Being a dedicated student at Aureus Academy, Varsha was chosen to participate in the Christmas Light Up, a major event in Singapore. Varsha also composes many unique songs, and is planning to pursue a degree in music in college.

Third Place Winner

Tereza Tihomirova Todorova was born in 2005 in the city of Ruse, Bulgaria. Her first singing performance on stage was at the age of four. She has played the piano since she was five. She has won more than 30 first prizes in piano and pop singing contests in Bulgaria, Romania, the Czech Republic, Belarus, Macedonia, Austria, Italy, Spain, Germany and the USA. In 2015, Tereza performed at Carnegie Hall, after she had won the second prize in the piano category at the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition. She is an award and scholarship winner in the Arts category of the Dimitar Berbatov Foundation for talented children. In 2013 – 2016, she participated in a late-night talk show “Slavi’s Show” on bTV where she sang or played the piano live with a band twice a week in the rubric “Meet the Young”. |
